Katie Leclerc is a famous American actress and producer. She has appeared in television series including “Veronica Mars” (2005), “Fashion House” (2006) and “The Big Bang Theory” (2011-17). In 2011, she joined the cast of the TV series Switched at Birth (2011-17), starring Daphne Vasquez.

Katie LeClaire grew up in Lakewood, Colorado. She is of Canadian descent and is the youngest of three siblings. She learned American Sign Language at age 17 and later discovered she had Ménière’s syndrome, a condition that causes hearing loss. Her sister also teaches American Sign Language. Because her father and sister also suffer from Meniere’s disease.

She discovered her passion for acting in seventh grade when she landed the lead role in a production of “Annie.” She then moved to San Diego to study drama at Valley Center High School and worked in commercials for Pepsi-Cola, Cingular, Comcast, and General Electric.

In 2009, she played Ally in the drama film “Flying By” and in 2019 she played Minka in the sports film “Round of Your Life”. She won the Drama Queen Award at the TwoCents Television Awards for her performance in Switched at Birth. In 2011, Katie Leclerc won the Teen Choice Award for Best Breakout Star for “Switched at Birth” and was nominated for the Independent Series Award for Best Comedy Guest Star in 2014 for “My Synthetic Life.”
