Sharon Leal is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her roles in films including “Dreamgirls” (2006), “This Christmas” (2007), “Why Did I Get Married?” ” (2007), Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010). She is also known for her role in the television show Legacies from 1998 to 1999.
Her mother, Angelita, is Filipino, and her father, an African-American military police officer, separated from her before Sharon was born. Soon after, her mother married Jesse Lyle, a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and a police officer at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. He legally adopted Sharon.

Sharon Leal began her acting career with the role of Dahlia Crede in the CBS daytime soap opera television series Guiding Light (1952). Later, she joined the Broadway theater company Rent. Soon after, she joined the San Francisco cast of Rent’s first national tour, playing Mimi.
In 1999, she also appeared in the creative cast recording of the off-Broadway rock musical Bright Lights, Big City, alongside Patrick Wilson and Jesse L. Martin. From 2000 to 2004, Lyle starred in the Fox primetime drama “The Boston Public.”
She also had a recurring role on the short-lived TV series LAX (2004), playing the wife of airport co-director Roger D’Souza. In 2006, she also co-starred as Michelle Morris in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. Jennifer Hudson stars as the fictional character Ellie in the pop band The Dreams, alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx Effie White.
Sharon Leal also starred in This Christmas and the Tyler Perry-produced Why Did I Get Married? ” (both 2007). She played the role of Vanessa Lodge on the TV series Hellcats until the show was canceled in 2011.
